It's a world of events, with brand new mediums connecting individuals more closely with each other. People see the scene of a disaster through live TV, comment on hot social issues through social networks, understand the latest academic achievements through online classes, monitor changes in air quality through mobile devices, and help more disadvantaged groups through crowdfunding platforms ......
Under the influence of new technological means and social environment, the context of design is undergoing profound changes. Designers with social responsibility have more possibilities than ever before to face a wider range of people, more ambitious subjects, more hidden conflicts, more remote areas, and a more distant future ...... Design will not only provide a product, a poster, or a set of fashion, but also a model, a mechanism, and a set of thinking. This will greatly expand the meaning of design, and make both "near" and "distant" closely related to us.
The works in this exhibition come from graduates, current students and young teachers of the Home Product Design programme of the School of City Design at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), reflecting the design thinking of the new generation of young designers on daily life, traditional culture and natural ecology, which all point to the goal of sustainable design - for our better future.
